The Story of A Man and His Lost Keys
One time, there was an old man who found himself in a bit of a predicament. He had lost his keys and had been searching for them for hours. As he was searching, a police officer walked by and noticed the old man searching under the streetlamp. Curious, the police officer approached the old man and asked him what he was doing.
The old man responded, "I'm looking for my keys, officer!” I think I lost them somewhere in the house." The policeman then asked, "Well, where did you last see them?”
The old man replied, "Well, I think I might have dropped them while I was taking my daily walk in the park.” Confused, the policeman responded, "Well, why aren't you looking at the park?"
“It's too dark over there in the park, and I can't see anything. I came here because there's more light under the streetlamp!” said the old man.
The police officer couldn't help but chuckle at the old man's logic. "I see," he said. "Well, let's go look for your keys in the park anyway. Maybe we'll get lucky."
How This Story of A Man and His Keys relates to Ketamine Therapy
Don’t you think it’s quite interesting and funny how the old man was looking for his keys not where he lost them, but where there's more light? The policeman may have felt the same.
But what does this story have to do with ketamine therapy? One of the things that we humans have a tendency to do is to look for things that draw more attention. This could be joy, happiness, or contentment.
Because everyone, maybe including the media, focuses on all of these things that are supposed to bring us “joy,” we think it’s the right thing to do. And sometimes, these sources of “joy” and “happiness” are merely external sources that we end up forgetting to look within to find real joy and happiness. So, what if we start looking for these things within us rather than outside?
Looking Within During Ketamine Infusion Therapy
This is where ketamine therapy can come into a play. At our clinic, one of the things we invite our patients to do is either close their eyes or we give them eye shades. We do this so that they don’t see anything external and really just connect within. I personally believe that everyone has an inner intuition, higher spirit, or even an inner healing that's within them.
Trusting Your Inner Healing
When we cut our finger and get a paper cut, our body has its own healing mechanics. We don’t need to do anything because our body knows how to heal itself.
Similarly, we also have our own inner healing. When we look within via ketamine therapy, we are able to connect with our inner selves on a much deeper level. This is really important because I believe that we actually have the answers within and we just need to be able to connect with them.
When we're looking under the streetlamp for our keys because there's more light, we're never going to find it no matter how hard we try. But if we go to the area where we actually lost it, that's when we can find those keys.
